Do you make custom cakes? No, unfortunately we can no longer offer custom cakes. However, if you have a larger party, we may be able to sell you our cupcakes at a bulk rate. Why don’t you use ingredients like butter and wheat flour that are traditionally used in baking? There are approximately 10 million people in the US who can’t tolerate those foods due to allergies and sensitivities. Crave Bakery strives to provide a delicious alternative so people don’t feel like they’re missing out. What is gluten? Gluten is a protein found in wheat, barley, rye and several other grains. Gluten is especially harmful for people with Celiac Disease. For more info, go to: www.celiac.org What is casein? Casein, the principle protein in cow’s milk, is widely used in the food industry and creates various physical health problems for those with dairy allergies. Who are Crave products for? We believe our products are so good that everyone will enjoy them. No kidding- check out our testimonials. But the people who are most excited about our venture are those allergic to wheat, dairy or gluten intolerant (Celiac Disease). Are these products suitable for people who are on a GFCF diet or autistic? Yes! Since we use no milk products, our baked goods are casein-free. Many specialists believe that autistic children reap great benefits by adhering to a GFCF (gluten-free, casein-free) diet. Crave Bakery’s products align with these requirements. |
Why is your Kosher certification Kosher D if your products are dairy-free? Because even though Crave products don’t contain dairy, there is dairy in our kitchen. How do you insure there is no cross-contamination? We research our ingredient sources carefully and only bake products that are gluten-free and milk-free. We practice ingredient, production and equipment isolation. Do you test your products for gluten presence? Yes. Even though our ingredients are gluten-free, we don’t like to take chances. So, we regularly test our products to insure they’re below levels of detection (20 parts per million). Do you make vegan products? No. At this time, our focus is on food sensitivities, including wheat, gluten and milk. Since eggs make great natural binding agents, we welcome them in our gluten-free goods. Is soy lecithin (the emulsifier in Crave chocolate) safe for soy allergic folks? Studies done at University of Nebraska and Michigan show that most soy allergic individuals may safely eat products that contain soy lecithin and soy oils. These substances are fat based, and persons with allergies react to the protein portion of the food. Of course, there are individuals who are more sensitive and if that's the case, even lecithin should be avoided. Check with your allergist.Do you use any artificial colors or flavors in your products? Never. We believe our products taste better and are better for you with all natural ingredients. What is the potassium carbonate in the bittersweet chocolate? An anti-caking agent. It helps the chocolate’s drying process go smoothly. Why palm oil? It’s organic, dairy-free, non-hydrogenated, an excellent source of Vitamin E and works like butter! Why free-range eggs? We buy only vegetarian-fed, organic, free-range eggs. We like the idea of supporting farmers who are dedicated to making their chickens happy. |
